The Gers have been flying both at home and in Europe this season, and continued their remarkable campaign by thumping Royal Antwerp 5-2 at Ibrox on Thursday night to sail through to the next round with a stunning 9-5 victory on aggregate.

They have a staggering record in the Scottish Premiership this term too.

Sitting 18 points clear of Old Firm rivals Celtic, Rangers have won 26 of their 30 league games so far, drawing four and losing zero, and have plundered 73 goals while only conceding nine times.

Rangers are one of four British sides left in the Europa League last-16 draw, after Manchester United, Tottenham and Arsenal all went through but Leicester were dumped out by Slavia Prague.

And former Gunners star Parlour believes no English club would want to face the Scottish giants next.

“I wouldn’t want to get Rangers,” he said on Friday’s talkSPORT Breakfast.

“For Arsenal I think that’s a really tricky game, with the way Steven Gerrard is approaching games and going all-out attack. They’re in the last-16 and they’ll be confident they can go a long way in this tournament.

“Manchester United will be the favourites I would think, then you look at Arsenal, Spurs and AC Milan, but obviously Rangers too… I wouldn’t want to draw Rangers at the moment.”

Even Celtic fan Alan Brazil was forced to admit anything is possible for Rangers this season, saying – through gritted teeth – they are contenders for the Europa League crown, and a place in next season’s Champions League.

“This is very difficult for me, because you all know what my colours are,” said the talkSPORT Breakfast host.

“I’m not envious of Rangers as all, Celtic had their own way for nine years, and if I’m being dead honest Scottish football is hard to watch, but the teams can raise their game and Steven is doing a brilliant job, no doubt about it.

“Can they win it? You never know in cup knockouts. There are some good teams left in. If they get Manchester United, I think they’ll be too strong for Rangers, but we’ll see.

“I hope Rangers draw one of the big boys from England, I think that would be great!”

Rangers fan claims they're a bigger club than Liverpool and that English clubs are scared of the prospect of having them in Premier League

Jason Cundy also said on The Sports Bar that he rates this Rangers team higher than Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester side, after they suffered a shock exit.

The Foxes are flying high up in third place in the Premier League, but were beaten 2-0 at home by Slavia Prague on Thursday night, after their first-leg ended goalless.

“When you look at what Rangers are doing, Rangers are doing better than Leicester,” said former Chelsea defender Cundy.

“I would love to see Rangers up against a Premier League side. Next round, Man United vs Rangers, that would be brilliant anyway because it’s England vs Scotland.

“We poo-poo the Scottish league but what Rangers have done in Europe is quite outstanding and what they’re doing in the league is unbelievable.

“I don’t know whether we can measure Rangers yet by what they’re doing in the league because it’s not as strong as down south, but what they’re doing in Europe tells me Rangers are far better than we normally look at Scottish slides.

“Look what they’re doing, look what they’ve done, you’ve then got to say there’s more to this side.”
